Hypnotherapy
mindset
changing our patterns
We are creatures of habit, in fact, most of our behaviours are controlled in some way by the subconscious or unconscious mind. It’s one of the reasons why will power alone is sometimes not enough to change stubborn behavioural patterns.
stream
consciousness and cognition
The mind is a continuous flow of information. William James used the term “stream of consciousness”, while others describe the mind as “mental processes”. Changing or steering that flow can be difficult. This is where hypnosis can help.
imagine
absorbed in your inner world
Hypnosis has been described as imaginal absorption, similar to an engaging daydream. This gentle, self-induced state (guided by the therapist) allows you to tap into your powerful inner resources and facilitate changes you couldn’t achieve through will power.
calm
you're always in control
Therapeutic hypnosis is a pleasant, relaxed and enjoyable altered state, nothing like you see on TV. In this state, much like R.E.M. sleep, the mind is able to manage and process emotions, thoughts and limiting beliefs in a way which allows lasting change.
patterns
creatures of habit
The majority of how we behave is controlled by the unconscious mind; it can’t process the huge number of signals it receives from every nerve-ending in the same way the conscious “more intelligent” mind can, so instead, it sets up patterns. Your facial expressions and body language are good examples of this – you don’t have to think about them at all as you talk with others. Some patterns, however, are unpleasant, unwanted and hard to break. Hypnosis can be an effective tool in shifting these stubborn traits.
